For the past two months, the Save My Care Bus has traveled 14,000 miles across the country hearing how the Affordable Care Act has helped Americans of every stripe.
From Washington, DC to Bangor, Maine, La Crosse, Wisconsin, Carson City, Nevada, and back—we’ve listened to hundreds of folks who came out to send Congress one message: #SaveMyCare.

Read excerpts of some of the incredible stories we’ve heard from across the country below.
“I’m not a deadbeat or a freeloader. For 40 years, I’ve paid my taxes, I’ve worked to support my family, I’ve given to my church, and I’ve contributed to my community. But in my hour of need—when my back was against the wall in the richest country in the history of the universe—Congress was voting to repeal legislation that saved my life.”—John, Greensboro, North Carolina
“I went months—while pregnant—without any health insurance and nothing was wrong with me. We can’t go back to saying that women don’t deserve care because they’re female. That’s not acceptable. I’m not willing to go back to that world.”—Dr. Cathleen London, Milbridge, Maine
“The Affordable Care Act saved my life. Without insurance, I wouldn’t have have gone to the doctor. My wife would have been without a husband, my daughters without a father, and my grandchildren without a grandfather.”—Arnie, Orlando, Florida
“My son, Aiden, and I were in a really bad car accident when he was two years old. While he was in a medicated induced coma, Tricare took away his insurance, but didn’t notify us until two months later. At the end of the second month I was able to file for AHCCCS, Arizona’s Medicaid program. AHCCCS has allowed Aiden to get lots of services. He needs physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech—and he has been able to gradually make progress.”—Jaclyn, Tucson, Arizona
“In the past, I didn’t have health insurance or access to medication. It has ended up putting me being in the hospital. I’ve been on the Affordable Care Act for four years. Having access to medicine has saved my life. I don’t know how I would take care of my kids without it.”—Tyheera, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
“I know firsthand how crucial Medicaid is as a low-income, single mother. My 12-year-old son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes last year. Thanks to Medicaid, he is alive and is receiving quality health care, medication, and supplies he needs for life.”—Sally, St. Louis, Missouri
