Wisconsinites don’t deserve to be left out in the cold when it comes to health care — and that’s why the Save My Care bus stopped in the Badger State on Thursday.
In the morning, we stopped by City Hall in Milwaukee. There, organizers and local Milwaukee legislators came together to say #SaveMyCare and explain what’s at stake for Wisconsinites if the Affordable Care Act is repealed.

Then, we headed west to La Crosse, where we were joined by Senate Minority Leader Jen Schilling and Representative Jill Billings.
Leader Schilling said it best:
“When I think about health care I think about three words. I think about safety, freedom, and assurance.
All of us want to feel safe. We all need places where we feel safe. We need to have access to affordable health care. When we have that feeling of safety, we’re stronger together as a community, as a state, and as a country.
When you have health care, you have freedom. Health care represents freedom to people — freedom to know that if you have a pre-existing condition, you can go in and receive care for that pre-existing condition. Freedom to think that you can be an entrepreneur and start your own business. There’s the freedom to change jobs and maintain health insurance for your family.
And finally, assurance. Health care reflects an assurance for people — that they will be able to take care of themselves and their loved ones. That they won’t go medically bankrupt if something happens to them. It is that assurance that you can maintain working if you have health insurance. Health care is such an important part of feeling safe in our communities.”
